The identity code is a unique two-digit numerical identifier that is part of the international bank account number or IBAN. The identity code is always the fifth and sixth digits of the IBAN after the country code and check digits. The identity code can be used to confirm the identity of the institution when filling and automatically processing payment orders.
Identity codes are issued by Finantsinspektsioon to credit institutions, payment institutions and e-money institutions and can also be withdrawn by Finantsinspektsioon.
