Finantsinspektsioon is organising an information seminar on access to basic payment services

27/09/2024

Finantsinspektsioon is holding an information seminar on Thursday 22 February at 10.00-12.00 to explain the requirements for the provision of basic payment services. The information seminar is aimed primarily at banks and their branches, but can also be followed by anyone who is interested in the subject.
Banks and bank branches are invited by Finantsinspektsioon to send their representatives to the event at the Eesti Pank Museum at Estonia puiestee 11. Anyone else who wants to can follow the information day on the Finantsinspektsioon YouTube channel.

Finantsinspektsioon will use the information seminar to present the content of the advisory guideline on requirements for providers of basic payment services that came into force at the start of the year. The guideline is intended to make clear the requirements for the provision of basic payment services, harmonise market practice, and so ensure that consumers have broad access to basic payment services and that there is universal access to those services. Basic payment services are running a payment account, depositing and withdrawing cash, and sending and receiving payments, and these are services that should be accessible to everybody.

Read more on what Finantsinspektsioon expects from the provision of basic services in the advisory guideline. Further information on basic payment services can be found on the Finantsinspektsioon consumer website minuraha.ee.
